Leadership program prepares freshmen for future

The First Year Experience Freshman Leadership Program is a two-semester leadership development program for freshmen that:

  • Instills a foundation for future campus and community leaders.
  • Explores the connections between leadership and the university community by inspiring entering freshman to become engaged in campus activities and organizations.
  • Offers students opportunities for personal leadership development so that they will have knowledge and skills for assuming leadership roles.

Although leadership is often defined by the offices one holds and the recognition one attains, organizers of the Freshman Leadership Program believe a leader is someone who takes the initiative to better his or her personal environment and the environment of others.

Upon completion of the Freshman Leadership Program, participants will receive a certificate of completion. Participation is open to entering freshmen interested in developing leadership skills, becoming active in campus organizations, serving, and volunteering.
