Center offers adult learners space to study, interact
The Adult Learning Resource Center is a gathering place and interactive group study space designed for adult learners. All students are welcome to utilize the facilities. Its main goal is to provide a place where adult learners can find a sense of connection and belonging. It is a place to hang your hat (and your coffee mug) and gather with others, either to study or to socialize.
What exactly Is an adult learner?lso known as non-traditional students, the official campus definition is any student who has been away from an educational setting for five years or longer. More often, the term "adult learner" has more to do with lifestyle than age. Adult learners juggle school, employment, family, home and even extracurricular activities. Some may come to college for the first time after 20 years of full-time employment. Others may transfer from other institutions, holding down a full-time job and taking night classes. Still others return to school after children are grown and in school themselves. CSU welcomes all students, whether age 18 or 80. Coming back to school after all these years!Coming back to school after so many years can be a scary, lonely experience. You may assume that all of your classmates will be in their teens and that you will stick out like a sore thumb. You may also worry about how you are going to juggle all the roles of your life, including work, family and school -- not to mention that's it been decades since you cracked a textbook. Have no fear! There are many sources of support. Research shows that non-traditional students most need to connect with other students like themselves to stay in college and succeed. The Adult Learning Resource Center offers many innovative programs and services to meet students' needs for support and a sense of belonging. If you have questions, contact:
